Antivirus Application for elementary OS

Do you really need an anti-virus application for elementary OS. The short answer is no. The long answer is yes. If you exchange files with Windows machines and want to protect your friends and family from harm. There also have been cases lately of linux machines get infected of careless users.

This guide will show you how to install NOD32 Antivirus.

First download the application here: https://www.eset.com/ Go to download page and choose “ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Linux Desktop”. Remember to pick 64-bit.

When done downloading right click on the file and click Properties. Under Permissions set user to Execute.

Click on the downloaded file to start installation and follow the Setup Wizard.

You can also use this command in the terminal to launch NOD32 Antivirus;

/opt/eset/esets/lib/esets_scan.sh %f

Howto use live wallpaper on elementary OS

It’s possible to have Live Wallpaper on elementary OS. This guide shows you have to install it. If you want a peak I have made a video on Youtube.

INSTALLATION

Open the terminal and copy/paste;

sudo apt install software-properties-common
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:fyrmir/livewallpaper-daily
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt install livewallpaper livewallpaper-config livewallpaper-indicator

You should now have to launcher in Slingshot. Press the LiveWallpaper Preference to set up your wallpaper and style/color etc.

Bashtop: Resource monitor for CLI

A handy little CLI application Bashtop that monitoring processor, memory, disks, network and processes. It’s easy to use and comes with many different skins. This gem is a MUST HAVE if you have to keep an eye on what’s going on on your system.

Installation is pretty simple. Open the terminal and copy/paste;

sudo apt install software-properties-common
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bashtop-monitor/bashtop
sudo apt update
sudo apt install bashtop 

To simple start bashtop type; bashtop in the terminal.

To install it via the terminal, copy/past:
